Summer is a great time to get outside, have fun and stay fit while you’re at it!

Enjoy these Fitness Tips for Summer shared by Angelique Gutierrez, personal trainer and owner of AMG Fitness in Encino, CA

FIT TIP #1:

Do it your way

Fitness Tips - Paddle Boarding

First of all, seek out activities that you enjoy or have wanted to try.  If you’re doing something you don’t enjoy, you probably won’t keep it up. Secondly, be adventurous and try something new. It’s a great way to fend off boredom and the challenge will help keep your body feeling fit and satisfied.  Whatever you choose to do, make sure you’re active everyday!

FIT TIP #2

Take advantage of free classes

free-class

They pop up all over the place. Be on the lookout for opportunities: A free gym trial, yoga, trampoline or Zumba classes.  Want to try an outdoor fitness class? Angelique offers a “first class free” to new students.  Enjoy her intimately sized classes and the personal attention that come with it. All fitness levels welcome!

FIT TIP #3

Stay hydrated!

Hydrate

Proper hydration is vital, indoors or out. Did you know that once you have a dry sticky mouth, you are already experiencing the first stages of dehydration Then comes light-headedness and nausea which, if not addressed, can lead to more severe symptoms causing kidney failure and in extreme cases, death.  How much should you drink? A glass or two of water throughout your workout. Drink every 15 minutes, even if you’re not feeling thirsty. Always carry a water bottle or water pack like the Camelbak, and continue to drink water throughout your day.

FIT TIP #4

Check with your doctor before you begin, or expand your exercise programTips For Fitness

Keeping tabs on your state of health will not only help you to understand what works best for your body but could head off the onset of a potentially dangerous illness or injury.  I would add this: Listen to your body. It knows how to stay in homeostasisListen to your body’s cues and you’ll have a better shot at fully knowing the joys of good health. Then you’ll relish the goals you have met.

Fitness should be an adventure, not a chore. Explore new activities. Make the choice every day to honor your body and health. Afraid you’re not up to it? Check to see if you’re clinging to limiting beliefs. Remember, our bodies are capable of taking us much farther than we imagine.

To your health and wellness –
